Waste to landfill

The construction sector is the world’s largest consumer of raw materials, creating significant opportunities to reduce environmental impact through reuse and recycling. As part of Planet Passionate, we aim to reduce waste sent to landfill by 99% by 2030 compared with 2020.

To achieve this, we closely monitor our waste streams and focus on improving segregation, working with specialised recycling partners and collaborating with suppliers to find new recycling routes. Particular attention is given to residual waste and stone wool waste.

100% recycling of mineral fibre dust at Isometall

Since 2025, 100% of the mineral fibre dust generated at Isometall is recycled. On average 700 tonnes per year are returned to our supplier, where the material is reused in the production of insulation.

Recycled raw materials

One of our new Planet Passionate targets is to use 237,000 tonnes of recycled key raw materials by 2030. We are already increasing the use of recycled materials across our products and packaging.

Steel with lower embodied carbon

Steel represents the largest share of the embodied carbon in many of our products. That is why we are increasing our use of low-carbon steel to reduce their environmental impact.

In early 2026, we also launched dedicated EPDs for our Low Carbon sandwich panels, providing transparent environmental data on their reduced embodied carbon.

More sustainable packaging

Since 2020, we have progressively replaced EPS packaging with honeycomb cardboard made from recycled material. Starting with our panels in 2020 and single skin products in 2021, this change has reduced our annual EPS use by 50% – on average 31,000 m³ per year.

Recycled PET in PIR foam

Since 2023, the polyol used in our PIR insulation foam has contained an increasing share of recycled PET. In 2024 alone, the equivalent of around 314 million PET bottles was recycled into our foam.

Take-back & recycling schemes

By 2030, we aim to have launched three take-back or recycling schemes, helping ensure that products and valuable materials are reused or recycled at the end of their life rather than becoming waste.
